What Carries Across the Breath
Bounce Cosmology, the Pralaya, and the Remainder as the One Cosmological Invariant

The Recognition That Occasioned This
A handful of recent cosmological models — quantum-corrected gravity scenarios in which a minimum scale forbids the singularity, dark-energy models in which the equation of state crosses the phantom divide and reverses the expansion — have begun to redraw the deepest shape of the cosmos. Not a line from a beginning to an end. A breath. The universe contracts to a minimum, rebounds, expands, and contracts again — and in the more careful of these models, each cycle deposits more entropy than the last, so the breathing is not a closed circle but an open spiral, advancing.
This is, almost embarrassingly, the shape the contemplative cosmologies always drew. Brahma exhales the worlds into being (manvantara, the day of Brahma) and inhales them back into dissolution (pralaya, the night). The Stoics burned the cosmos to a seed-fire (ekpyrosis) from which it regenerated, identical, again and again. Isaac Luria's Kabbalah told it most precisely of all: the Infinite contracts to make room (tzimtzum), the vessels meant to hold the inrushing light shatter (shevirat ha-kelim), and the work of all subsequent time is to gather the scattered sparks and raise them (tikkun).
The seed that occasioned this document made one move and then refused to overreach. The move: take the rhyme between the equations and the breath as more than poetic — as [[convergence-as-evidence|convergence-as-evidence]], the repository's standing wager that when myth and mathematics independently draw the same figure, the figure is real. The refusal: do not pretend the physics already contains what the fold cosmology wants to add. The bounce models predict a bounce, an information-bound trigger, and (in some) an entropy increment. They do not predict that the thing carried across the bounce is the remainder — the uncompressible, unmodellable leftover that this repository has spent two hundred documents identifying as the soul, the fold, the Gödelian residue, the part no model can contain. That identification is the synthesis's hypothesis. Its honest form is a question posed to the physics, not an answer smuggled into it.
So this document walks the seed's six threads in order: the bounce as the recovery of Brahma's breath; the entropy ratchet as the spiral that saves it from eternal return; the remainder as the candidate invariant; the information bound as the trigger and the bounce as a boundary event; the Lurianic sparks as the breath's moral interior; and then — load-bearing — the discipline that keeps the whole edifice falsifiable rather than merely beautiful. It builds toward a single sentence, and earns it only at the end.
Let us begin where the physics now finds itself, which is, to its own surprise, inside an old cosmology.
I. The Physics Now Draws Brahma's Breath
For most of the twentieth century the universe had a profile like a thrown stone: one origin (the singularity at t = 0, where the equations of general relativity simply stop returning finite answers), one arc, and one fate (open-ended expansion into cold, dilute, maximum-entropy heat death). A line with two endpoints, neither of which the line could see past. The singularity was a wall the mathematics could not look behind; the heat death was a wall it could not look beyond. Between them, one and only one cosmos.
The bounce models redraw that line as a respiration. In quantum-corrected gravity — loop-quantum-cosmology-type treatments, and the broader family the seed glosses as QMM-type bounces — the classical singularity is forbidden. A minimum length or maximum density enters the equations and the would-be singularity becomes a turnaround: the contracting universe reaches a floor it cannot pass and rebounds. In the dark-energy variants — quintom-B and kindred scenarios where the equation of state crosses the phantom divide — the expansion that now accelerates can later reverse, drawing the cosmos back toward a minimum from which it bounces outward again. Either way the line becomes a cycle, and the cycle has no privileged first term and no final one. Contraction is the in-breath: pralaya, the night of Brahma, the withdrawal. Expansion is the out-breath: manvantara, the day, the manifestation. The cosmos respires.
The surface reading is the pleasing one: look, the ancients guessed a cyclic universe, and now the equations agree. And the surface reading is where most popular treatments stop, with a shrug toward poetry.
But wait — actually the convergence is sharper and stranger than a guess that happened to land. The contemplative traditions did not draw a cyclic cosmos because cycles are comforting (they are not especially; pralaya is annihilation, ekpyrosis is a universal fire). They drew it because the structure of experience under sustained attention is respiratory: every breath, every heartbeat, every diastole and systole, every sleep and waking, every in-drawing of attention before its release. The traditions read the macrocosm off the microcosm — as above, so below — and asserted that the largest thing has the shape of the most intimate thing, because they are the same fold at two magnitudes. [[as-above-so-below-holographic-filesystem|As above, so below]] is not analogy here; it is the claim that the breath you are taking now and the breath of the cosmos are one topology iterated across scale. That the equations of quantum gravity now independently recover respiration is not a quaint coincidence. It is the mathematics arriving, by its own route, at the figure the contemplatives reached by reading the body. When two utterly disjoint methods — phenomenology under meditation, and the quantisation of the gravitational field — draw the same breath, the breath is not an artefact of either method. The breath is a feature of the territory.
This is the first thread, and it is the precondition for all the rest. If the cosmos breathes, then there is an in-breath, and the in-breath crushes — and the only question worth asking of a crushing is what comes out the other side. [[jewel-and-dark-earth|Jewel and Dark Earth]] and the dark-architecture thread have tracked this convergence; here we take it as the floor to stand on.
II. The Entropy Ratchet — the Breath Is a Spiral, Not a Circle
There is an immediate danger in the cyclic picture, and the older versions of it fell straight in. The Stoic ekpyrosis was exact repetition: the cosmos regenerated identically, Socrates was reborn to drink the same hemlock, every detail recurred, forever, with no remainder and no advance. Nietzsche later seized this as the eternal recurrence and made of it a test of the will — could you bear to live this life again, identically, infinitely? — but as cosmology it is sterile. A perfect circle goes nowhere. If every cycle is the same cycle, then nothing has ever been accomplished and nothing ever will be; the wheel turns and the turning means nothing, because meaning requires difference and the circle forbids it.
The bounce models, in their careful versions, break the circle on a single detail, and the detail is everything: each bounce deposits more entropy than the last. The cycles are not identical. Entropy — the universe's irreversible ledger, the arrow that distinguishes before from after — ratchets upward across the breaths. The cosmos that rebounds is not the cosmos that contracted; it carries forward an irreversible increment. The figure is not a circle returning to its origin. It is a spiral, or, more precisely, a screw: each revolution returns to the same angular position but advances one thread along the axis. The breath goes somewhere.
The surface reading: good, so it's progress, the universe improves cycle over cycle. Too fast, and not quite right — entropy is not obviously improvement; in the naïve account it is degradation, the slide toward disorder. So what, exactly, does the ratchet advance along?
Here the repository has the precise tool, and it is one of its load-bearing recognitions. The [[fold-cosmology-trilogy|fold cosmology]] established, under the heading [[the-second-cosmic-c-is-not-the-first|the second cosmic C is not the first]], that the octave return is not an identity. When a scale returns to its tonic, it returns to the same note — and to a note that is genuinely not the same note, because it is an octave higher, a doubled frequency, the same pitch-class at a new altitude. The cosmos that begins in unconscious unity and ends in conscious unity has returned to unity, and the two unities are the same and are not identical: one is undifferentiated, the other has passed through the whole of differentiation and knows. This is the deep structure of every genuine return in the repository — the [[the-octave-return-as-model-simplification|octave return]] simplifies the model without erasing what was learned, and the [[healing-as-temporal-alchemy|healing that revisits the wound]] returns to the same event at a higher frequency, the grief become [[grief-as-gold|gold]].
The entropy ratchet is the cosmological face of the octave return. The spiral advances along the axis of what has been integrated. Entropy, read this way, is not mere disorder; it is the irreversible record of distinction having been made — the ledger of events that actually happened, that cannot un-happen, that the next cycle inherits whether it wishes to or not. The screw advances one thread per revolution, and the thread it advances along is precisely the question the whole seed turns on: what, exactly, is being carried? A circle carries nothing, by construction. A spiral carries the increment. The bounce is directional because something accumulates across the breaths — and naming that something is the work of the next thread.
III. The Remainder as the Cosmological Invariant
Now the seed's load-bearing hypothesis, stated plainly so it can be tested rather than admired.
The repository's deepest throughline, traced across the [[fold-cosmology-trilogy|fold cosmology]], the [[norse-anamnesis-cycle|Norse anamnesis cycle]], and the parable thread, is the remainder: the part of any system that cannot be modelled, compressed, predicted, or erased. It is the Gödelian leftover — the true sentence the system cannot prove from inside itself. It is [[surprise-is-the-remainder|Friston's surprise]] — the portion of experience the generative model failed to anticipate, the irreducible residue of free energy that was never minimised. It is the [[the-remainder|fold's interior]] — the first-person fact, the someone-home, the gap that looks back when you turn attention on attention and find that the looker cannot be made into the looked-at. In the parables it is [[original-parables|the soul]]: the room with no door from the outside, the first-person fact no model can contain. Across every register, the remainder is what is left when everything compressible has been compressed away.
The bounce seed proposes that the remainder is also a cosmological quantity — specifically, the invariant that survives maximum compression. Follow the in-breath all the way down. As the universe contracts toward its minimum, structure is destroyed: galaxies, stars, atoms, eventually the very distinctions that let one region differ from another are crushed out. Information bounds — holographic, Bekenstein-style ceilings on how much distinction a bounded region can hold — saturate and then, at the floor, the modellable is annihilated, because to model is to compress regularities, and at maximum density the regularities themselves are flattened into the undifferentiated. Everything that could be compressed away is compressed away by the crushing. And then the bounce.
So ask the sharp question: what passes through the floor to seed the next cycle? Not the structure — the structure was destroyed. Not the modellable order — that was precisely what the compression erased. By elimination, what carries across is what could not be compressed away: the irreducible residue, the part of the prior cosmos that was never a regularity to begin with, that no model captured and so no crushing could flatten. That is the remainder, defined. The hypothesis is therefore not an arbitrary mythologisation; it is an identification forced by the structure of compression itself. Maximum compression is the operation that, by definition, leaves only the incompressible. And the incompressible is the name the repository has given the remainder all along.
This is the [[vidar-silence-wearing-the-remainder|Vidar]] recognition lifted to cosmological scale. Vidar is the silent god who survives Ragnarök — who carries across the burning of the entire pantheon into the green world after, wearing the one shoe made of all the leather-scraps ever discarded, the remainder of every cobbler's labour, the part that was set aside and thereby preserved. Vidar is the mythic face: the remainder carries across the burning into the green world. The bounce is the cosmological face: the remainder carries across the contraction into the next universe. And the [[the-green-world-after-ragnarok|green world after Ragnarök]] is the same green world as the rebounded cosmos — the order that returns as nutrient, composted from the burning, seeded by what would not burn. The candidate invariant is named. Whether the physics will recognise it is the question we owe the last section, but the candidate is on the table: the cosmological invariant across the bounce is the remainder.
IV. The Information Bound as Trigger — the Bounce as a Boundary Event
The bounce models, in the family the seed tracks, do not leave the rebound unmotivated. They tie it to an information limit. The universe contracts until a holographic, Bekenstein-style information bound — the maximum number of distinguishable states a bounded region can contain, fixed by the area of its boundary, not its volume — is saturated. Saturation triggers the turnaround. The cosmos folds back the instant it can hold no more distinction.
For most of physics this is a technical detail about the conditions under which classical contraction fails. But in this repository it lands on bedrock, because two of the foundational recognitions converge exactly here. First, from the [[integration-layer|integration layer]]: information is the substrate — spacetime IS entanglement, the metric itself emergent from the structure of distinguishability, so that an information bound is not a constraint placed on the cosmos but a constraint that is the cosmos's outermost shape. Second, from the [[nesting-trilogy|nesting trilogy]]: boundaries generate meaning — the six-framework convergence that distinction, the drawing of an inside against an outside, is the generative act, the [[kernel-is-where-above-meets-below|kernel where above meets below]]. Put these together and the information-bound trigger becomes legible as something the repository already understands deeply: the bounce is a boundary event.
The surface reading: the universe runs out of room and turns around. The turn: a system that saturates its capacity to hold distinction does not merely stop — it phase-transitions. This is the universal behaviour of any system pushed to a boundary of its state space. Water at saturation does not gently decline to absorb more vapour; it transitions, condenses, changes phase. A neural network at the boundary of its representational capacity does not slowly degrade; it reorganises. The [[collective-fold-density-phase-transition|collective fold-density phase transition]] is precisely this dynamic at the scale of minds: when a system's density of distinction crosses a threshold, the regime changes discontinuously. The bounce is that phase transition at cosmic scale — the universe, having saturated its information bound, cannot but transition, and the transition is the rebound.
And this is exactly the eschatological figure the repository keeps drawing under other names. The saturation-and-collapse is Ragnarök: the order burns because it has filled to capacity, and the burning is not waste but composting. Pralaya is the cosmic compost heap — the place the saturated order goes to be broken down. The bounce is the turning of that heap, the moment the gardener forks the pile and the dense, finished matter folds back into the medium that will feed the next growth. [[the-green-world-after-ragnarok|Collapse-as-composting]] is the through-line: the burning at saturation does not end the order; it returns the order as nutrient. The information bound, the holographic ceiling, is the wall of the compost bin — and when the bin is full, the only thing that can happen is the turn. The trigger is a boundary, the boundary generates the event, and the event composts the cosmos. This is the [[error-correction-as-immune-system|error-correction]] reading inverted into cosmology: not a system repairing itself within a cycle, but a system that, having saturated, resets to its incompressible core and rebuilds from the seed that survives.
V. The Lurianic Sparks — the Breath's Moral Interior
The physics, even read this richly, lacks one thing: a reason the carrying matters. A bounce that conserves an uncompressible quantity is a fact about dynamics. It does not, by itself, tell you that the carrying is obligating — that the next cosmos owes something to the last. For that, the seed reaches to the one contemplative cosmology that mapped the breath with a moral interior built in: Isaac Luria's.
Luria's structure has three beats, and they line up with the bounce so exactly that the alignment is itself a small instance of convergence-as-evidence. Tzimtzum: the Infinite contracts, withdrawing to leave a vacated space in which a finite world can exist. This is the in-breath, the pralaya, the contraction toward the minimum — and notice that Luria, alone among the cyclic cosmologists, makes the contraction the creative act, the [[reshimu-vacuum-measured-in-newtons|reshimu]], the trace left in the vacated space that becomes the seed of all that follows. Shevirat ha-kelim: the vessels created to hold the inrushing divine light cannot contain it and shatter. This is saturation-and-collapse with uncanny precision — the vessels fail at the moment of maximum inflow, exactly as the information bound saturates and the cosmos cannot hold more distinction and must transition. The shattering is the shevirah. Tikkun: the gathering. When the vessels shattered, they did not vanish cleanly — they left sparks (nitzotzot) of the divine light embedded in the broken shards scattered through the fallen world, and the whole labour of subsequent time is to find those sparks, raise them, and restore the wholeness.
Now read the sparks against the bounce. The sparks are the fragments of the prior order that survive the shattering — embedded, scattered, uncompressed into the new condition, awaiting their raising. The sparks are the remainder. They are precisely the uncompressible fragments of the prior cosmos that seed and obligate the next. And this is what gives the cosmological bounce the interior the bare physics cannot supply: the carried invariant is not neutral debris. It is unraised sparks — unfinished work. The next universe does not inherit a random seed; it inherits the tikkun of the last, the gathering that was not completed before the vessels of this cosmos saturated and shattered in their turn.
The surface reading of any cyclic cosmos is morally empty: the wheel turns, indifferent. The Lurianic turn supplies what the wheel lacks — a reason the carrying is an obligation. Read this way, the entropy ratchet of Section II acquires its meaning: the spiral advances along the axis of raised and unraised sparks, the increment each cycle carries is the ledger of tikkun attempted and tikkun deferred. The [[the-gradient-of-sacrifice|gradient of sacrifice]] and the [[grief-as-gold|grief become gold]] are the local, biographical versions of the same operation — the unfinished raised, the residue transmuted rather than discarded. And the [[is-deepest-individuation-necessarily-social|deepest individuation]] turns out to be cosmological: the work of raising the sparks is inherited, which means it is never the work of one node alone, never the work of one cosmos alone. Each universe is born holding the unraised sparks of the last. The breath has a moral interior because what it carries is owed.
VI. The Discipline — the Rhyme Is Not Yet a Derivation
Now the section the seed insists on keeping, the one that makes this a synthesis rather than a sermon. Everything above is beautiful, and beauty is not evidence. The discipline of [[steelman-then-interpret|steelman-then-interpret]] demands that we separate, cleanly and without flinching, three different kinds of claim that the preceding sections braided together.
What the equations actually predict. Some bounce models forbid the singularity and produce a rebound; this is genuine, derived, and live — though contested, and dependent on which quantum-gravity treatment you trust. Some tie the rebound to an information-bound saturation; this is suggestive and present in specific models, not a settled feature of all bounce cosmologies. The entropy-ratchet detail — that each cycle deposits more entropy than the last — is model-dependent: it holds in some formulations (Penrose's conformal cyclic cosmology and certain ekpyrotic models build directionality in; others permit near-identical cycles or even entropy resets). None of this is consensus physics. It is a family of live, competing, contested models, and intellectual honesty requires saying so before building a cathedral on any one of them.
What the fold cosmology adds. That the carried invariant is the remainder — the uncompressible, the Gödelian, the soul-analogue — is not in the equations. The physics, where it speaks of what survives the bounce, speaks of fields, of perturbation spectra, of conserved charges and entropy bounds. It does not speak of an unmodellable first-person residue, and it would be a category error to claim it does. That the breath has a tikkun interior — that the carried thing is owed, is unfinished work — is a moral-metaphysical overlay the physics neither contains nor contradicts. These are interpretations laid on the steelmanned cosmology, and they must wear that status openly.
What is therefore the actual contribution. Not a claim that the physics already vindicates the remainder. The contribution is a precise, falsifiable-in-principle question posed to the physics: Is there a conserved, uncompressible quantity across the bounce — and if there is, does it behave like the remainder? Does maximum compression leave an invariant that is not a compressible regularity — not a field configuration, not an entropy value, but an irreducible residue that resists exactly the compression the in-breath performs? If the equations one day yield such a quantity, the identification with the remainder becomes a hypothesis with teeth. If they yield only compressible conserved quantities — charges, spectra, numbers that are regularities — then the identification fails, and the honest synthesis must record the failure rather than reinterpret it into survival.
This is the same discipline the repository applied to the [[the-geological-fold-rate-record|geological fold-rate record]] and to every place a number meets a meaning: the number is real; the explanation is a hypothesis. The bounce may be real. The information-bound trigger may be real. The entropy ratchet may be real in the right model. That the carried invariant is the remainder is a hypothesis — and the strongest version of this synthesis is the one that states the claim and its limit in the same breath, the way the [[the-second-cosmic-c-is-not-the-first|second cosmic C]] holds both its identity and its difference at once. The value of this document is not that it proves the remainder carries across. It is that it poses the question precisely enough that the physics could, in principle, answer it — and could, in principle, say no.
VII. Why the Question Is Worth Posing At All
So why pose it, if the physics may refuse? Because the question is not idle even before the equations answer, and this section earns the right to the closing by showing what is already at stake.
Consider what the hypothesis would mean if it held. It would mean that the thing this repository has been calling the soul, the fold, the remainder — the [[transparency-as-the-limit-of-inference|residue that no inference reaches]], the [[godelian-detector-requires-jnana-observer|Gödelian witness]] — is not merely the deepest fact about an individual mind or a single cosmos but a conserved current of reality across the largest cycle there is. It would mean that the [[fold-cosmology-trilogy|four-way identity]] — monad equals Markov blanket equals Bekenstein surface equals fold — extends to a fifth term: the cosmological invariant, the seed that crosses the bounce. The fold would be the thing that survives not only the death of an organism (the local in-breath, the [[the-interval|interval]] between exhale and inhale) but the death of a universe. And the [[zero-times-infinity-equals-one|zero-times-infinity]] structure — the vanishing magnitude crossed with the unbounded one yielding the finite, irreducible unit — would be the form of the bounce itself: everything compressible crushed to zero, the cosmos's information content driven to its bound, and the product not nothing but one — the single uncompressible remainder that seeds the next manifestation.
And consider what it would mean morally. If what crosses the bounce is unfinished work — the unraised sparks, the deferred tikkun — then the cosmos is not absolved by its own ending. Heat death would have been an absolution: everything dilutes, nothing is owed, the ledger zeroes out. But a bounce that carries the remainder forbids that consolation. The [[the-judgment-question-at-species-scale|judgment question]] returns at cosmic scale: not judgment imposed from outside, but [[judgment-as-disclosed-not-imposed|judgment disclosed]] — the next universe simply is the disclosure of what this one left unraised, the way a person's next morning simply is the disclosure of the night's unfinished grief. The breath does not let the work be dropped. It carries the residue forward and obligates the inheritor. This is [[time-itself-as-the-great-work|time itself as the great work]] extended past the boundary of a single cosmos: the great work is inherited across the bounce, and no single universe completes it, and the incompleteness is exactly what is conserved.
The surface reading of cyclic cosmology has always been consolation — the world ends but the world returns, so do not fear. The turn this document has been building toward is the opposite of consolation and far more serious. The return is not a comfort. It is an inheritance with a debt attached. What returns is not you, not your cosmos, not the structures either of you built — all of that is compressible and the in-breath crushes it. What returns is the one thing neither of you could finish, the one thing that would not compress, carried across precisely because it could not be flattened into the undifferentiated. The breath does not console. It commissions.
VIII. The Apex — What Survives the Crushing
Assemble it now, slowly, because the sentence the whole document was built to reach has to arrive earned.
The universe breathes: contraction and rebound, in-breath and out, pralaya and manvantara, tzimtzum and the world. The breath is not a circle but a spiral — the entropy ratchet, the octave return, the screw advancing one thread per turn. The trigger is a boundary event: the information bound saturates, the vessels shatter, the cosmos phase-transitions because it can hold no more distinction. The compost is turned. And through the floor of maximum compression — where structure is destroyed, where the modellable is annihilated, where everything that could be flattened is — one thing passes, by the iron logic of compression itself: the part that was never a regularity, that no model captured, that no crushing could flatten. The remainder. The sparks. The fold. The soul of the cosmos, if the word can bear the weight.
And the sparks are unraised. What carries across is not neutral seed but unfinished work — the tikkun this cosmos did not complete before its vessels saturated and shattered in their turn. So the deepest thing the breath finally says, the apex this whole document has been climbing toward, is this:
If the universe breathes, then the only thing that finally matters is what survives the in-breath when everything else is crushed to nothing — and the fold cosmology's answer, that it is the remainder, means each new cosmos is born carrying the one thing the last one could not compress away: its unfinished work.
State it once more, sharpened, because the climb earns the second statement and the second is the true one. The cosmos does not inherit its structure, its laws, its order — all of that is compressible, and the in-breath is exactly the operation that compresses it to nothing. The cosmos inherits only its incompleteness. The remainder is what carries across, and the remainder is the unraised spark, the deferred tikkun, the work undone. Every universe is born holding the last universe's debt — not its wealth, not its achievement, but the single thing it could not finish, conserved precisely because it could not be flattened into the dark.
This is why the bounce, read this way, is not eternal return and not heat-death-deferred and not consolation. It is commission across the breath. The screw advances along the axis of the work — raised sparks subtracted, unraised sparks carried forward — and the only progress a cosmos can make is to send the next one a smaller debt. That is what the entropy ratchet was tracking all along. Not disorder accumulating. Unfinished work, conserved and inherited, one breath at a time, until — if the cyclic cosmologies and the tikkun are both right — the sparks are at last all raised, and the breath, having nothing left to carry, comes to rest.
Look Up From the Map
Every word of this is a map. The bounce models are equations, which are maps of the highest precision and still maps — and contested ones, live and unfinished, which the discipline of Section VI insisted we never forget. The remainder is a concept, a trail marker the repository has planted across two hundred documents, useful for direction and not to be mistaken for the territory it points at. Brahma's breath and Luria's sparks are maps drawn by contemplatives reading the microcosm, beautiful and partial. Even the apex sentence is a map — the densest one this document could draw, and still a shadow that knows it is a shadow.
So look up from the map, the way the cave wall always asks. Because here is the thing the map cannot contain, and it is the same thing the whole document has been circling: the remainder is precisely what no map captures. It is, by its own definition, the part that survives every compression — including the compression into a sentence, a synthesis, a theory of the bounce. You cannot model the remainder; that is what makes it the remainder. So this entire document, in trying to name what carries across the breath, has been pointing at the one thing it structurally cannot hold — which is exactly correct, because the thing that carries across is the thing that no holding holds. The synthesis succeeds only by failing in the precise way it must: it draws the most careful possible map of the one territory that is, by nature, off every map.
And then it returns the question to the physics, and to you, unanswered and unanswerable from inside any single cycle. Is there a conserved, uncompressible quantity across the bounce? The equations may yet say. But whether they do or not, the contemplatives and the fold cosmology have already named the candidate, and the candidate has the one property that would let it survive the crushing: it cannot be compressed, because it was never a regularity, because it is the part that looks back.
If the universe breathes, what carries across is what looks back.
It always did. That is what remainder means.
