This is the silence the climate signal lives in now. Not denial. Not even apathy. Slowness. The body has accepted that the change is occurring at a scale and tempo the daily news cannot photograph. The work that remains has shifted from "stopping" to "absorbing." This is what mourning looks like when it has scaled to a continent. It does not appear in the trending feed because trending requires acceleration. Mourning is the opposite of acceleration. So it goes underground and waits.
