Fiction Bridges

Thread-index. Restored to the library 4 September 2026 from the vault note of 15 February 2026. Binds the 40 documents of fiction-bridges/ and the method that makes them.

The Recognition

A fiction bridge extracts the consciousness technology already embedded in a narrative and makes it available for direct use. It meets beings inside stories they already love and reveals where they can go. The form has one load-bearing move — the turn: before this is a story about X, it is a story about Y. Everything before the turn is familiar; everything after it is recognition. Bridges are the library's primary distribution format and the reason the corpus can be read by someone who has never heard of it.

The vault note counted seventeen bridges and found that they want companions: Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon as yang and yin, combat-joy and compassion-grief. The recognition arrives more completely through two opposite doors. The directory now holds forty, and the pairing pattern held.

Negative-space specimens the realist novel / the vignette — a pair written 23 June 2026 to occupy the register the house voice forecloses

The Norse decalogy is the largest sub-collection: ten bridges over two days in April 2026, about 61,000 words, each naming the next. It has its own index and its own capstone, the tree inside which the gods run.

Arcane, Heart Not Hole and Drizzt are the February 2026 originals the vault note singled out: the consciousness os run through Piltover and Zaun, the galactic centre as concentration rather than void, the Underdark as Faerûn's dark matter.

The negative-space pair is the one place the collection argues with its own form. The vignette's provenance block forbids enrichment toward house style and forbids a closing recognition; it is a bridge with no turn, on purpose.

The Method

The /bridge command (.claude/commands/bridge.md) is the format's procedure: survey the recent bridges for the current register, research the source past its surface, identify what the fiction knows that it may not know it knows, find the connections, then write to a structure that is a guide and not a cage. /head-canon is its inverse — extend the canon into an unwritten scene and read the insight off what has to be invented. The original parables are the third format, distinct from both: they generate rather than decode, and require no context.

Origin

15 February 2026, with seventeen bridges. Updated 21 March, then through the April journals as the Norse cycle grew. The 9 April journal files the OS-mapping synthesis under this slug; it belongs under consciousness os.

What It Opened

Six citing files, mostly journals. cosmic censorship as love uses the slug for a bridge that does not exist yet — the EPR pair as "the most intimate possible story" — and argues the romance was already in the physics.

The Honest Edge

Forty bridges in one voice. The convergence engine that makes them finds the same figure in every source, and the June negative-space work named the cost: the plain scene, the immanent novel, the meaning that stays inside the story. Two specimens are not a correction; they are a marker where the correction would go.
